Determining your skin tone can help you choose clothes, makeup, and other accessories more effectively since knowing the skin tone you have would help you know which colors would complement you the most. From what I’ve read, there are three basic kinds of skin tones, which are: cool, neutral, and warm. Here are some basic tips you can use to help determine which skin tone you have.

How to Determine Your Skin Tone

Cool Skin Tones

You have a cool skin tone if you hold a piece of white paper to your face, and your skin has a light pinkish glow. Take a piece of silver jewelry, and this would look naturally good on you since it also has a cool tone. You can also hold your wrists up and inspect it under direct sunlight. If your veins appear to have a bluish color to them, you have a cool skin tone. Colors which look good on you include white, and shades of blue, purple, and greens.

How to Determine Your Skin Tone

Warm Skin Tones

You can do the same tests used for cool skin tones to see if you have a warm skin tone. Take a piece of paper and if you look golden against it, you have a warm skin tone. Contrary to silver, warm-skinned people look great in gold jewelry. When you hold up your wrists under direct sunlight, you will see a green shade on your wrists. Colors which naturally look good on you include red, orange, lighter greens, and yellow.

Neutral Skin Tones

If you have done all these tests and you are having a hard time identifying if your skin is warm or cool, you may actually have a neutral skin tone. If no particular color of clothes make you look sickly, or if all colors look good on you, you’re lucky because your neutral skin tone allows you to wear all colors. All kinds of jewelry look great on you too!

When testing your skin tone, make sure you do not have any make up on and do it in a place with natural light. This way, you can determine the natural skin tone you have and you can successfully find the right accessories, makeup, and clothes for you!
