2014 Daytime Emmy Awards Nominations
Next to the Academy Awards, the awards show I love watching most is the Emmys. This year’s Daytime Emmys will be held on June 22 in California’s Beverly Hills, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The nominees were announced just last week, and the leading soap opera “The Young and the Restless” has a total of 26 nominations! At times like this, I find it hard to believe that they won’t win a single one out of those many nominations.
This CBS soap will compete with another one from the same network, which is “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and the other nominees it will be competing with include “One Life to Live” from The Online Network, and “Days of Our Lives” from NBC.
The shows which gathered more than a handful of nominations include “The Bold and the Beautiful” which has 18 nominations. It is followed by the “General Hospital” which has 16, the classic “Sesame Street” with 15 nominations, and “Days of Our Lives” with 14 nominations.
Other notable shows with more than one Emmy nomination include:
- The Ellen Degeneres Show
- CBS Sunday Morning
- The Dr. Oz Show
- The Queen Latifah Show
- Rachael Ray
- The Talk
- All My Children
- The View
- The Chew
- Let’s Make a Deal
- The Wheel of Fortune
For best actress, the announced nominees were Arianne Zucker and Eileen Davidson, both from “Days of Our Lives,” and they will be competing with “The Bold and The Beautiful” best actress nominees Heather Tom and Kelly Lang.
The best actor spot is a bit more competitive especially for the guys from “The Young and the Restless,” namely Peter Bergman, Billy Miller, Christian LeBlanc, and Doug Davidson. The only one nominated for best actor who is not from the same show is Jason Thompson, who is one of the actors of “General Hospital.”
I think this year’s nominations are more exciting than past ones, and with the leading show snagging a total of 26 nominations, I cannot wait to see how much they can actually take home! I’m also very much excited about what the nominees for best actress will be wearing for this special occasion. I’ll stay tuned for the Daytime Emmys this year, will you?
