What’s So Bad about The Latest Transformers Movie?

I want to say that I went to the movies and enjoyed myself, but that would be a lie. I watched the latest Transformers movie, Transformers: Age of Extinction and I can’t say that it reached my expectations. I don’t know if I was just expecting a lot. The effects are good, superb as always, but story-wise, I had a hard time following what was happening.

What's So Bad about the Latest Transformers MovieIt’s not that the storyline was complicated. It’s just that I found the climax and the conclusion lacking. And Shia’s absence kept nagging at me. Apparently this movie is supposed to be a reboot of the series while at the same time being a fourth installment, but the new cast, and I’m guessing we will be seeing more of them in the next movie, is too stereotyped for my liking: a muscled father who is overprotective of his daughter. The daughter, of course, falls into the pattern of Michael Bay putting hot chicks in the robot franchise to compensate for the loopholes in the story. She is a sight for sore eyes, I will agree with that, but I can’t say that she’s good at acting or that her presence is needed at all.

What's So Bad about the Latest Transformers Movie 2One other thing I didn’t like about how the movie was made is the advertisement you see everywhere. This is the trend in movies these days, it seems. Focus on a product here and there and get paid for it. But you can only see so many advertisements before it ruins the movie.

The one redeeming thing about Transformers: Age of Extinction, and I think this also goes for the other Transformers movies, is the robots. I love seeing them on screen and I love the transformation sequences. You really see how much effort has been put into making those sequences and how the details make them look so real. I kind of want one, but then again, I don’t want the CIA taking me somewhere and dragging me into a colossal mess, just like what happened with the people in the film. Having a car that could transform at will would still be something cool though.
