The Oil Cleansing Method

I believe that having nice skin greatly contributes to a person’s self-esteem. While there are a lot of beauty products out there that can give you nice skin, using natural products to achieve the complexion you desire is the best way to go. You can get soft clear skin that is nice and supple by using the oil cleansing method.

Your skin naturally lubricates and moisturizes itself with oil. Since oil dissolves oil, the oil cleansing method is a great way to break down existing oil on your face and clean it up in a gentle and natural way. You shouldn’t be afraid of applying oil on your face when you clean it, and don’t worry about having blemishes or zits when you do this since those are caused by other factors. When done right, the oil cleansing method can even deal with these problems!

How to do the Oil Cleansing Method

The Oil Cleansing Method

You can achieve the oil cleansing method with just some basic beauty tools—some good quality natural oils and a clean wash cloth will do the trick. Usually, the oils need to be a blend of two oils. The most common blend is castor and olive oil. Castor oil has natural astringent properties which help pull out impurities while olive oil is nourishing and moisturizing. If you don’t have castor oil or prefer to use something else with olive oil, hazelnut oil is a great substitute for it. Other oils you can combine with castor or hazelnut oil include coconut oil, sunflower oil, and safflower oil.

Combine castor or hazelnut with your other chosen oil in a 1:2 ratio for oily skin. For combination skin, combine 1:3 of castor or hazelnut with the other oil. For dry skin, add just a small amount of the castor or hazelnut oil with the other nourishing oils.

Take about a teaspoon of the oil and massage it into your face gently in circular motions. Take your wash cloth and soak it in hot water. Spread the washcloth over your face and allow it to sit for a minute before using it to wipe the oil off. This will allow the steam to lift the oils and impurities. You will see a layer of oil, and you can still use the washcloth to remove it as needed.
